Jay Carney: Yes, President Obama did live with Uncle Omar after all

At Thursday’s press briefing, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters that the president had indeed stayed with his uncle Omar Obama while a student at Harvard Law School. The question arose because Uncle Omar had testified to that fact at a deportation hearing, while the White House had previously denied that the two men had ever met.

Carney’s explanation: nobody at the White House spoke to the president about it, and no one had asked him in the past. Weird, huh?

Business trip: President to designate national monument between fundraisers

CBS News’ Mark Knoller reports that President Obama will take a brief break from fundraising in California Friday in order to designate 346,000 acres of the San Gabriel Mountains as a national monument.

@markknoller A national monument to Obama in the San Gabriel Mountains?

— Paula Bolyard (@pbolyard) October 10, 2014

Possibly. Hey, wouldn’t this official action make at least part of this trip reimbursable by taxpayers?

@markknoller @mrzmazz .His lame excuse to charge this fundraising trip off as official business.

— 4chunat1 (@4chunat1) October 10, 2014

@markknoller Now taxpayers can pay for all expenses since he is going to visit national park. DNC shld pay for his fundraising expenses

— menunu (@barbszoo22) October 10, 2014

That fact doesn’t seem to have slipped past Knoller, either.

The monument designation is political outreach to conservationists and also offsets some of the DNC's political costs of his trip.

— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) October 10, 2014

@markknoller Not necessarily in that order

— Uncle Billy (@FOWfan01) October 10, 2014

@markknoller The latter reason is the ONLY reason he did it, Mark. You should be journalist enough to report it as such. @HarrietBaldwin

Well, it’s pretty.

White House remembers Grand Canyon Park anniversary in predictable way [pic]

Just because we’ve become accustomed to the White House Twitter feed inserting pictures of President Obama in tweets that are supposedly honoring anniversaries and birthdays of people, places and things otherwise unrelated to the president doesn’t mean they ever cease to amuse:

Why break precedent?

The metaphor of the backdrop might have made it a little more appropriate for Obama to appear in the photo:

Gwyneth Paltrow neighbors seek ‘conscious uncoupling’ after Obama gridlock

Thursday night, as Hollywood celebrities fawned all over President Obama (and no doubt vice-versa) at a DNC fundraiser hosted by actress and “working mother” Gwyneth Paltrow, the tight security in the neighborhood reportedly angered some neighbors:

Jealous much? Reporter envious of armed felon’s easy access to president

As Twitchy reported, the Secret Service recently allowed President Obama to ride in an elevator with an armed man with a criminal record who was exhibiting “highly irresponsible behavior.” We know Obama’s is allegedly the most transparent administration ever, but the Miami Herald’s Marc Caputo seems jealous of the armed convict’s easy access to the president.

Oh, you've had felony convictions & youre armed? Ride the elevator w/Obama! Oh, youre a reporter? Stand 20 yards away behind barricades…

— Marc Caputo (@MarcACaputo) September 30, 2014

All we can suggest is bolting for the White House front door armed with a pen and reporter’s notebook, although Caputo has his own suggestion for beefing up White House security.

Wanted: whoremongers, drunks, sleep-at-the-switch guards, badge-heavy liars to the press. Contact Julia Pierson, U.S Secret Service

— Marc Caputo (@MarcACaputo) September 30, 2014

Another great performance by the Secret Service.

FTW RT @robcrilly Secret Service did at least manage not to put Obama in a lift with an Ebola patient, if I've understood this correctly

‘WOW’: Nancy Pelosi’s birthday wish to Obama raises eyebrows

As Democrats have reminded everyone on numerous occasions, today is President Obama’s birthday.

Nancy Pelosi joined the “happy birthday” parade today perhaps in a way that would have gotten her in trouble if she were a member of a different party:

Now just imagine if a Republican said that:

The “dog whistles” would be sounding non-stop:

For Pelosi, maybe she has to tweet it before she finds out what’s in it.

Perhaps Pelosi’s office can confirm or deny this rumor:

‘President ‘Do Something” doesn’t really want to let the House do anything

President Obama doesn’t like to waste time. Just look:

President "Do Something"
twitter.com/markknoller/st…— BT (@back_ttys) July 30, 2014

For this POTUS, “do something” apparently means “prevent Congress from getting anything done.”

Seriously, Mr. President. You can stop pretending you have any interest in working with the House.

‘Shocking!’ Jay Carney takes his ‘revolving door’ clown show to CNN

At the end of May, President Obama said goodbye to outgoing Press Secretary Jay Carney. There was subsequent speculation about Jay Carney’s next job, but was there ever any doubt that he’d end up back in the mainstream media?

Here’s the kind of totally believable analysis CNN viewers can look forward to:

A preview of Carney’s CNN coverage of President Obama’s address about ISIS:

Without a doubt!

‘God bless you’: Ken Wahl has nothing but praise for David Cameron

A day after President Obama told the assembled press corps and the world, “We don’t have a strategy yet” on dealing with ISIS, U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron stepped up, raising his country’s threat level to severe, saying that “This threat cannot be solved simply by dealing with the perceived grievances over Western foreign policy” and adding, “We cannot appease this ideology. We have to confront it at home and abroad.”

Cameron has said he’ll address Parliament Monday regarding the threat level. That sort of talk won the respect of actor Ken Wahl, who saluted Cameron for confronting the threat of ISIS head on.

No need to get testy. He may be golfing today, but the president is sure to get back to those “intensive discussions” tomorrow.

‘How would the Left react’ if a Republican White House sent out this graphic?

ISIS can wait. What we need to deal with right now is raising the minimum wage:

In the 2014 State of the Union address, President Obama called on Congress to raise the national minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour, and soon after signed an Executive Order to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for the individuals working on new federal service contracts.

Raising the minimum wage nationwide will increase earnings for millions of workers, and boost the bottom lines of businesses across the country. While Republicans in Congress continue to block the President’s proposal, a number of state legislatures and governors, mayors and city councils, and business owners have answered the President’s call and raised wages for their residents and employees. Read a report on the progress that’s been made so far across the country.

Women especially are depending on that minimum wage hike:

— The White House (@WhiteHouse) October 8, 2014

Hmmm. Maybe the White House should think this through a little more:

@WhiteHouse That bag of groceries will cost 30% more and she'll still be struggling. Math.

— laurakfillault (@laurakfillault) October 8, 2014

.@WhiteHouse You know it would make that bag of groceries 30% more expensive…don't you?

— Angela (@Bear2theRight) October 8, 2014

@laurakfillault @instapundit @WhiteHouse Nope…she'll be out of a job.

— Brad Hope (@Brad_Hope) October 8, 2014

@WhiteHouse It will increase prices every where. This will not help

@WhiteHouse Let's raise the cost of goods and services everywhere ensuring more poverty and reliance on welfare by raising the minimum wage.

— Robert Dietrich (@RobertDietrich4) October 8, 2014

@WhiteHouse Let's drive more women from the labor force because that's the best way to make unemployment lower.

— Robert Dietrich (@RobertDietrich4) October 8, 2014

.@WhiteHouse You realize those groceries will have been checked out at a kiosk and not by a cashier right? Dummies. #RaiseTheWage

— EEE (@EEElverhoy) October 8, 2014

While the White House is chewing on that food for thought, here’s something for the rest of us to ponder:

This picture, but with a Republican in the White House. https://t.co/OPgNOqbCKn How would the Left react?

Good question!

@RBPundit "1)As if Rs care bout women! They think this hides their War on Women? 2) FT workers?! Look at unemp! & 3) what about young ppl??"
