Perfect! This ‘psychological test’ for plane-obsessed CNN is gold [pic]

Wiping tears! The mockery of CNN’s obsessive plane coverage never gets old.

Agreed! As Twitchy reported, author Stephen King was just the latest viewer to express his frustration with the network. Enough already! King, of course, was not alone.

On the plus side, perhaps this could be a new drinking game?

Hmm. Perhaps a drinking game would be far too dangerous. Because:

Death of Shirley Temple inspires fond memories, drink-related confusion

http://twitter.com/#!/Ruth_A_Buzzi/status/433224131996160000

Hollywood legend Shirley Temple Black died Monday night at the age of 85. The former child star achieved iconic status in the 1930s and went on to take an active role in Republican politics, serving in several diplomatic posts.

While many mourn an American treasure who lived a full, incredible and inspiring life, as her name trended on Twitter, some seemed a tad confused. Yes, Shirley Temple was a real person, not just a non-alcoholic drink garnished with maraschino cherry.

‘Rich,’ ‘White’ Oscar Pistorius sentenced to 5 years maximum in prison

http://twitter.com/#!/marcmcardle1/status/524479602576867328

The Oscar Pistorus verdict is in. Details from ESPN:

Oscar Pistorius was taken away in a police van Tuesday to start serving a five-year prison sentence for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

A South African judge cited the “gross negligence” the Olympic runner showed when he shot Steenkamp multiple times through a toilet cubicle door in his home when she delivered the sentence. Pistorius’ prison term begins immediately.

Pistorius could be released after 10 months in jail to serve the remainder under house arrest, according to legal experts.

And he will begin serving his sentence immediately:

There is much anger on Twitter that his sentence was way too lenient, however, given the crime:

And as Twtichy reported previously, there is still a lot of sentiment from Tweeters out there that Pistorius benefited from being  rich and white. First in beating the murder rap, and now with his sentence:

To some people, it’s still always about race.

Defendant in Brian Terry murder sentenced to 30 years; Eric Holder still free

http://twitter.com/#!/SKrafftFox10/status/432990694521585665

Manuel Osorio-Arellanes was sentenced Monday to 30 years in prison for the killing of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. Two of the guns used in the administration’s “Fast and Furious” gun walking operation were found at the scene of Terry’s murder in southern Arizona in 2010.

Osorio-Arellanes, a Mexican national, is the only individual who has been prosecuted in the United States. Two other suspects are in police custody in Mexico pending extradition, and Eric Holder still serves as U.S. Attorney General. The House voted in 2012 to find Holder in contempt of Congress.

‘If the narrative don’t fit’: Media silent on ‘armed jihadist serial killer’ in US

http://twitter.com/#!/ReeseDelaney/status/502928684974891008

Why the silence on the story of an an armed jihadist serial killer who has killed at least four men? That’s the question Twitchy founder Michelle Malkin asks in her latest column at Townhall.com:

I say: Enough with the whitewashing. Meet Ali Muhammad Brown. His homicidal Islamic terror spree took him from coast to coast. The 29-year-old career thug admitted to killing Leroy Henderson in Seattle in April; Ahmed Said and Dwone Anderson-Young in Seattle on June 1; and college student Brendan Tevlin, 19, in Essex County, New Jersey, on June 25.

When a detective asked him to clarify whether all four murders were “done for vengeance for the actions of the United States in the Middle East,” Muhammad Brown stated unequivocally: “Yes.” He added that he was “just doing (his) small part.”

http://twitter.com/#!/JKlekamp/status/502406948965613568

Quite a story, so why the media blackout? As Malkin concludes, “Like O.J.’s glove: If the narrative don’t fit, you must acquit.” Ace agrees.

NYT: Rape victim who testified against gun control is ‘scare mongering’

http://twitter.com/#!/michellemalkin/status/528234465672589312

As Twitchy founder Michelle Malkin wrote in her syndicated column Friday, while New York Times editorial writer David Firestone purported to investigate campaign fear-mongering, it’s independent-thinking women who give him the chills. Malkin writes:

This week, Firestone took aim at “attack ads” sponsored by the National Rifle Association. The “worst commercial,” he says, “features a rape victim describing her assault and accusing” former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg “of wanting to take away her right to defend herself.”

That rape victim has a name and a story Firestone couldn’t even bother to mention. She is Kimberly Weeks, a brave and fierce Colorado woman who testified against the Bloomberg-backed gun-control measures that beleaguered Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper now admits he passed “without basic facts” and concedes were ineffective from the get-go.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

While Firestone and the New York Times couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge Weeks by name, she is certainly capable of telling her own story, which she bravely shares in a guest op-ed today at Revealing Politics. She also takes on Firestone’s editorial dead on.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Very recently, I’ve been accused of fear mongering and waging a war on women in an election season where ads about a fabricated birth control apocalypse and condom shortages are main stream. But my real-life experience is not a gimmick or a strategy, it is just a truth. I could easily be your daughter, your sister, your wife, or your mother. This makes many people uneasy; to have to imagine their loved ones in my shoes. I’m not asking you to go out and buy a gun if that’s not your choice; I know it wasn’t always mine. All I ask is that you not infringe upon my rights to do so.

The Columbus, Indiana newspaper The Republic reports:

Federal prosecutors announced Monday 21-year-old Derrick Dawon Burns is accused of making the threats on October 10, 2012, October 15, 2012, December 6, 2012, and October 1, 2013.

The charges were filed in the southern district of Illinois. However, Burns appeared Monday in a Chicago federal court, where he was ordered held without bond pending a Wednesday detention hearing.

U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton didn’t reveal a motive for the threats, nor what led to Burns’ arrest.

It will be interesting to see what exactly prompted the arrest if the threats occurred more than a year ago.
