Truth to power: Senator Chambliss asks Attorney General Holder what he is doing about SWATting; Update: Chambliss on Fox News!/politicalinsidr/status/210448316994031617

First the power of grassroots solidarity resulted in a national media organization finally reporting on political terrorist Brett Kimberlin and life-threatening SWATting. And now a senator takes action and calls for the Department of Justice to investigate. Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) served Attorney General Eric Holder with a letter today, asking for an investigation into SWATtings committed against conservative bloggers and activists.

1/2 Class act of Sen Saxby Chambliss to ask US DOJ to investigate SWATTING bloggers like Erick Erickson.

— Michael Weir (@mikweir) June 6, 2012

2/2 Erickson in particular has said he would support a conservative primary challenge to Chambliss so can't be all politically motivated.

— Michael Weir (@mikweir) June 6, 2012

Conservative Twitter users, who have been fighting for justice and standing in solidarity with those targeted by political terrorism, join in thanking Senator Chambliss.

@michellemalkin This GA boy doesn't always agree with Saxby Chambliss, but I'll claim him re #brettkimberlin and SWATting!

More from Michelle Malkin:

Full letter is here. Excerpt:

The use of SWAT-ting as a harassment tool is apparently not new, but its use as a tool for targeting political speech appears to be a more recent development. During the last year, some of the more widely reported cases of SWAT-ting have taken place against blog operators across the country, including in Georgia. The emerging pattern is both disturbing and dangerous.

While these incidences are currently small in number, and have fortunately not led to any accidental physical harm, they are extremely concerning. The perpetrators appear to be targeting individuals who are vigorously exercising their First Amendment rights to political speech. As you know, these reported efforts to intimidate those who choose to enter the political forum and express their opinions are in conflict with the founding principles of our nation.

Regardless of any potential political differences that may exist, threats and intimidation have no place in our national political discourse. Those who choose to enter into that political discourse should not have to worry about potential threats to their or their family’s safety.

While I am certain that local law enforcement is reviewing each of these instances, I am asking you to please look into each of these cases as well to determine if any federal laws may have been violated. Future targets of SWAT-ting, whether engaged in political speech or not, may not be so fortunate as to escape physical harm.

I appreciate your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your response no later than June 29, 2012. Please feel free to contact my office with any questions or comments that you may have.

Shouldn't there be 99 other Senators rushing to join @SaxbyChambliss in defending the 1st Amendment?

More conservative Twitter pwnage: #BidenSitcomLaws!/emzanotti/status/199577342421647360

Yesterday, Vice President Joe Biden came out and said he’s comfortable with marriage for teh gheys. Unlike those of President Obama, Joe Biden’s views don’t need to do any more “evolving.” And as it turns out, Biden has “Will and Grace” to thank for that.

Vice President Joe Biden says the sitcom “Will & Grace”  played an important role in changing perceptions about gay rights. During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” in which Biden made headlines for saying he was “absolutely comfortable” with same-sex marriage, he also said, “I think ‘Will and Grace’ probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody’s ever done so far.”

So all this makes us wonder … what else has Uncle Joe learned from sitcoms? Thankfully, Twitter’s all over it.

When They Saw This Giant Leatherback Turtle In Distress, They Didn’t Hesitate To Help

When Jacksonville Police Lieutenant Steve Mullen and Officer Brad Smith were out enjoying the ocean on their day off, they saw something in the water that warranted investigation. As they got closer, though, they realized it was a matter of life and death…because caught in a crab trap was a nine-foot-long leatherback turtle!

The rope was wrapped around his neck, so each time he tried to dive, it only tightened further. Seeing that if they didn’t cut the rope soon he would die, the two officers leapt into action.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); = id; js.src = “//”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Leatherback Sea Turtle Saved From Crab Trap By JSO Officers

Leatherback Sea Turtle Saved From Crab Trap By JSO OfficersJacksonville Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Steve Mullen and Officer Brad Smith were off shore two miles out in front of Hanna Park around 1:00 p.m. today. They observed a nine foot Leatherback Sea Turtle in distress. The sea turtle had become entangled in a crab trap. The trap's rope was looped around the sea turtle's neck, and the buoy was still attached to the trap. As a result, whenever the turtle tried to dive, the rope tightened around its neck. Lt. Steve Mullen was able to disentangle the distressed turtle from the crab trap while keeping the turtle in the water.Great job Lt. Mullen and Officer Smith! Even off duty, saving lives!^MB

When You Swap A Child’s Face With A Toy’s, The Result Is Surprisingly Terrifying

Perhaps the creepiest thing we’ve seen in a while is what this man stumbled upon in an email titled “Face swaps of children and their dolls.” What he saw was something that will haunt his dreams forever — something so scary, we hesitate to show it to you.

All face swaps are inherently creepy, but these might take the cake.

Didn’t we tell you?

Yeah, that’s not okay.

Some companies claim to produce lifelike dolls, but after seeing these photos, I’d beg to differ.

This is just horrible.

(via Reddit)

Let’s be honest. This would make for a great movie plot, because we all know that kids and dolls are the most horrifying terror tropes of all time.

Schumer in 2007: No judges for Bush!; Schumer today: Obama gets his judge!

Lots of folks are pointing out that Sen. Chuck Schumer’s rhetoric today on why the GOP needs to act quickly on President Obama’s pick to replace Justice Anonin Scalia is a tad hypocritical as Schumer was very vocal in opposing President George W. Bush’s judicial nominees in the last year of Bush’s presidency.

First up, here’s Sen. Schumer from today:

And now here’s Sen. Schumer in 2007:

However, Sen. Schumer’s spokesman Matt House says Sen. Schumer advocating the exact same thing with Bush’s nominees in 2007 — including a SCOTUS vacancy — is not the same thing as what the GOP is proposing to do now.

Schumer ended that speech with, “Consider the Constitutional harm and ‘dramatic departures’ that are in store if those few are joined by just one more ideological ally.I will do everything in my power to prevent that from happening.”

Guess what? And now GOP Senators will do “everything” in their power to keep Obama’s nominee off the bench. Funny how that works.

People Say That They’re Finding Worms In Their Tea Bags…But Lipton Isn’t So Sure

Lipton Tea is involved in a huge scandal right now that was caused by a YouTube video. A woman claims that she spotted strange worms in several tea bags. After she filmed herself opening a bag of tea and picking through the worms, the video quickly went viral.

Representatives from Lipton have denied this claim that their tea bags are riddled with worms by saying that the “worms” are actually lemon flavoring. Check out the video below and decide for yourself.

Here’s the original video:

And this is Lipton’s response:

According to Snopes, Lipton is correct in their claim that the worms are just flavor additives. When submerged in hot water, the objects in question instantly dissolve. Real worms wouldn’t do that. As a tea enthusiast, I appreciate this woman’s vigilance either way.
