‘Shining’ asshattery: Sneering Stephen King takes a stand against Christians!/ChrisBarnhart/status/491686261640278016

Being perched high up in his ivory tower may give him a better view of the Tea Party and Christians he so despises, but clearly the lack of oxygen up there has been bad for his brain:

Odd? More like totally douche-y.

Dana Loesch wasn’t having any of it:

Another question for Mr. King: You’re a compassionate liberal … what have you done to help?

Are you, Stephen? Are you?!/yesnicksearcy/status/491685498704760832

We’ll be here, Stephen.

Seeing This In The Middle Of The Street Just Made My Day. It Needs To Be EVERYWHERE.

Very few people have what it takes to be an artist professionally. There are even fewer people who are capable enough to spontaneously create art on the street or in other public venues. Oak Oak, however, is a French artist who can do just that. He takes the seemingly normal or mundane on the street and transforms it. He entertains passers by with his art, which is whimsical, silly and sometimes just a little bit strange. This is the kind of art you wouldn’t be likely to forget if you just saw it in the middle of the street.

The artist sees little people and faces everywhere.

Sometimes, they’re not doing so well.

He also draws inspiration from cartoons like Futurama.

Or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Randomly seeing this kind of stuff would make most people’s day.

Even if it’s a little weird.

Oak Oak sees whimsy in the mundane.

He also draws inspiration from The Simpsons.

His art is the best.

Source: Oak Oak His hilarious and imaginative street art makes the urban environment a better place. Who wouldn’t love seeing a little bit of silliness whilst on their commute to a 9-5 job? If you liked his art, share it. Hopefully it’ll inspire others to make the world as silly as Oak Oak sees it.

Fact check: Obama sticks to his lies about his mom’s insurance in ‘The Road We’ve Traveled’; Update: Lies about GM loan

Fact Checker in the Washington Post:

President Obama: “When my mom got cancer, she wasn’t a wealthy woman and it pretty much drained all her resources”

Michelle Obama: “She developed ovarian cancer, never really had good, consistent insurance. That’s a tough thing to deal with, watching your mother die of something that could have been prevented. I don’t think he wants to see anyone go through that.”

Hanks: “And he remembered the millions of families like of his who feel the pressure of rising costs and the fear of being denied or dropped from coverage.”

–series of statements with images of Obama and his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, in the Obama campaign film “The Road We’ve Traveled”

“The Road We’ve Traveled” is a very slick and impressively produced campaign film—sheer catnip for Obama fans. There are a number of facts and figures that could be challenged, but for now we are going to focus on this sequence. The series of words and images is an excellent example of how such films can create a misleading impression, while skirting as close as possible to the edge of falsehood.

The sequence, in fact, evokes a famous story that candidate Obama told during the 2008 campaign—that his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, fought with her insurer over whether her cancer was a pre-existing condition that disqualified her from coverage.

But the story was later called into question by Dunham’s biographer. The fact that Obama’s initial claim is not directly repeated suggests the filmmakers knew there was a problem with the campaign story, but they clearly wanted to keep some version of it in the film.

Read the rest for this ‘story’ that they continue to repeat after it’s been long debunked, the shameless liars. Good fisking, but we think this deserves more than 3 Pinocchii.

Obama puff film contains $25 billion error on GM bailout –Patriot Update #TCOT #TeaParty #Newt2012

— Joseph A. Gallant (@JosephAGallant) March 20, 2012

The Obama 2012 campaign has released a short film called “The Road We’ve Traveled,” detailing the challenges faced by President Barack Obama’s administration from day one through the start of the campaign.

But it’s not all roses for team Obama: part of the film contains a gross inaccuracy. Specifically, it claims that General Motors (GM) has fully repaid its federal bailout loan. It has not — meaning the documentary contains a $25 billion error.

Of the nearly $50 billion given to GM, just under half has been repaid to the government. Officials still argue the auto bailouts were a good investment due to the hundreds of thousands of jobs saved by that decision, and it is accurate to say that GM has returned to record profits — as have all the other major American automakers.

Meghan McCain pronounces presidential heckling ‘astounding’ and ‘disrespectful’

This evening, Meghan McCain took time out of her busy schedule (i.e., inflicting “America, You Sexy Bitch” on the rest of us) to express horror at the heckling that took place during President Obama’s immigration amnesty announcement.

As usual, the left’s favorite “conservative” provoked several responses, including an effort to provide a much-needed history lesson to a girl who continues to give Ivy League degrees a bad name.

@McCainBlogette Too much time at MSNBC is getting to you. GWB, Clinton and Reagan were all heckled by the press. Look up Iran Contra clips

— Randy Rousseau (@ramjamvan) June 15, 2012

@McCainBlogette You should have paid attention during any of the previous administrations…

— Robert Lambert (@Da5_Mau5) June 15, 2012

@McCainBlogette @d_cd_c. like when Helen Thomas heckled President Bush? Culture is unfortunately encouraging a politicized press.

— Luke M. Perez (@lukemperez) June 15, 2012

@McCainBlogette Since the press isn't actual press anymore. It's sensationalist reporting made to sell ad space.

— Destiny Chano (@DestinyLeah) June 15, 2012

Several folks spoke up about the president’s own apparent lack of respect for his office or for the rule of law:

@McCainBlogette it happens since when he takes matters into his own hands like this! No coordination with either house, he just enacts? wth?

— stkusner (@stk2470) June 15, 2012

@sharm629 So is the president's respect for the law of the land. @McCainBlogette @FoxNews

— Tony (@TonyIsRoyal) June 15, 2012

@McCainBlogette For a while now, we're down to respecting the office, NOT it's current occupant. He has earned disrespect and contempt.

— Wilhelm K. Schwab (@PenginHerder) June 15, 2012

@McCainBlogette It's called freedom of speech and he is no president. He is a dictator going against the wishes of the American people.

— Mike Orbin (@TxWheels) June 15, 2012

Another noted the question-asking vs. shoe throwing double-standard:

@McCainBlogette I'm sure you were just as outraged and pissed when a reporter threw a shoe at President Bush.

— AEWHITE (@AsheWhi) June 15, 2012

Unsurprisingly, Meghan hasn’t gotten around to answering that one yet. She did, however, finish issuing her official decree about when it is and isn’t acceptable to speak directly to a politician:

Any politician or candidate should be allowed to finish their statement without being heckled by press. Ask questions when the time comes!

— Meghan McCain (@MeghanMcCain) June 15, 2012

Of course, there is the pesky little fact that, when it comes to Obama, the time for questions seems to be never.

That’s immaterial, of course; the important point is that Meghan McCain has set forth her edict about press decorum. Clearly we had better start living up to it!

Man gets 3 speeding tickets totaling $2,000 while driving to court

From UticaOD:

Traffic officers along Interstate 84 in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge say a lead-footed driver was in such a hurry to make a court date on a meth possession charge that he racked up $2,000 worth of speeding tickets in an hour.

Police say 34-year-old Jose Romero-Valenzuela of Las Vegas, Nev., was zooming west Wednesday morning and got pulled over three times — first at 105 mph, then at 98 mph and finally at 92 mph.

Police say the last ticket appeared to have an effect. Down the road a bit, a trooper set up watch and clocked him at the limit, 65 mph.

Texas senator vows 13-hour filibuster to kill 20-week limit on abortion

Despite the legislation having no chance of getting past the Senate or the president’s desk, the House last week passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Inspired by the Kermit Gosnell trial, the bill would restrict most abortions past 20 weeks. Individual states have taken up the cause, and abortion advocates have convened on the Texas state senate today to block similar legislation from reaching Gov. Rick Perry’s desk before the special legislative session ends today.

The Texas Tribune has a concise review of the proposed legislation, most of which addresses the failures that contributed to Philadelphia abortionist Gosnell’s conviction on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a patient:

House Bill 60 and Senate Bill 5 authored by state Rep. Jodie Laubenberg, R-Parker, and state Sen. Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, respectively, would ban abortion at 20-weeks gestation, require physicians that perform the procedure to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital, require abortions to be performed in ambulatory surgical centers and require doctors administering abortion-inducing drugs to do so in person.

While abortion opponents argue the bills would improve women’s safety, reproductive rights advocates argue the bills would close 37 of the state’s 42 facilities that perform abortions and set up unnecessary obstacles for women seeking the procedure, effectively cutting off legal access to abortion in the state and endangering women’s health.

Leading the charge against S.B. 5 is Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis, who has promised to speak for 13 hours to prevent the bill from moving to a vote before the legislative session expires. Davis found support in Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, who watched from the gallery, and from tweeters who made #StandWithWendy into a trending topic.!/tootwistedtv/status/349630298465640448!/Nate_Norris/status/349608033434877952
