Comedy gold: Iowahawk wants to be Obama’s wacky neighbor

Comedy gold.

See?

It started with reports that the Obamas are buying this humble shack in Palm Springs:

All this talk about the Obamas’ real estate activities inspired the sitcom pitch.

We would totally watch this.

Of course.

‘Ridiculous’: Bob Costas talks PETA while covering Kentucky Derby

http://twitter.com/#!/NathanWurtzel/status/462693627316404224

It shouldn’t have been difficult to guess which societal cause Bob Costas would work into Saturday’s Kentucky Derby coverage.

Mark Ruffalo wants you to help Greenpeace fight … Lego?

http://twitter.com/#!/springrose12/status/489820752922042368

Environmental scientist Actor Mark Ruffalo wants you to support Greenpeace in attacking Lego.

Lego has had a partnership with Shell Oil for some time and the Shell brand appears in some of Lego’s play sets. Greenpeace is now attacking Lego as a way to publicize their opposition to drilling for oil in the Arctic. They even produced a macabre “Lego Movie” of their own which has gone viral despite some legal kerfuffles.

Ruffalo’s latest tweet promotes something called the “Protest-o-matic.” It’s a slick web app where you can come up with your own protest sign for your little lego hippie and his friendly (totally not man-eating) polar bear.

lego-protest

We’re guessing that not everybody’s words will be chanted at their protest.

That’s rich. Polluting children’s minds with junk science through movies, television programming, and school curricula is the bread and butter of the environmental movement. Guess they don’t like competition.

New poll shows Romney and Santorum could beat Obama

A new poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports finds that both former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum could beat President Barack Obama in a general election matchup.

The poll finds that only 25 percent of voters strongly approve of the way the president is doing his job, and 44 percent of voters strongly disapprove of the way he is handling it.

In a matchup with Romney, president Obama trails 48-43 percent. In a matchup with Santorum, president Obama trails 46-45.

Angry Van Jones: Hasn’t President Obama apologized enough? What about Bush?

He’s mad, all right. Just like fellow lib doofus Geraldo Rivera, Van Jones will not acknowledge that President Obama is a flaming liarpants. Because Bush, natch!

Ah, OK. See, whereas Bush and Cheney lied about Iraq, Obama merely “overpromised” on health care. Jones should get a job at The New York Times — he’d fit right in.

10 iconic quotes and photos of Audrey Hepburn on her 85th birthday

Audrey Hepburn was born 85 years ago today. She’s gone, but not forgotten. Grace epitomized. Twitter users are paying tribute this morning. Here are 10 unforgettable photos and quotes from the iconic actress and humanitarian.

No, ‘white people’s EBT’ isn’t working either; Xerox ‘glitch’ blamed

Obviously no, there’s no feature of an EBT card that indicates race, but a few Twitter trolls quickly popped up to posit the idea during today’s blackout of the EBT processing system in 17 states.

http://twitter.com/#!/ModernLeftist/status/389149521327816704

Yes on both counts.

Today’s very real shutdown of EBT processing can be traced to a “routine test of backup systems” by vendor Xerox that knocked out government-issued debit cards across the country, according to the AP. (Or maybe it was a computer system upgrade or a power failure, as CBS reported.) Whatever the cause, the race police, including “What’s the Matter with White People” author Joan Walsh, were out to shame those who would bring race into an already tense situation.

Mocking and EBT cruelty? Sure, there are trolls making jokes, but the folks on the Right have been the ones sounding the alarm bells about the perils of government dependence, while well-off Democrats pretend to be on SNAP benefits for no good reason that we can see, other than to be seen. Wanting people independent of government assistance is not cruelty.

Freedom-lovers go to bat for Chick-fil-A; #LiberalFastFood hashtag considers what the Left would fight for

Chik-fil-A Appreciation Day was a rousing success, and now it’s time to rub it in. Conservatives are having a ball with this by offering entertaining names, or just cruelly accurate descriptions, of potential liberal fast food franchises under the #LiberalFastFood hashtag:

Even those who aren’t fans of the hashtag still give it grudging admiration:

Ha! @maxthegirl Okay, so the #LiberalFastFood meme is dumb. But hat tip to the wag who came up with Che Burger, Che Burger.

— Only in Baltimore (@BaltInsider) August 2, 2012

Some liberals with no concept of what humor entails take a swing and a miss, or just don’t even bother swinging:

#LiberalFastFood … whatever "trickles down" because it appears much of the twitterverse continues to believe THAT fantasy

— NYC Arcana (@NYCArcana) August 2, 2012

If you want blind retardation, click the #liberalfastfood tag. Man, conservatives are really dumb. Just really really dumb.

Remember, though, that liberals do already have a fast food chain. They just hate its guts:

#LiberalFastFood Starbucks, before they give you some diatribe about the evils of corporatism.

— J. Noah Ashby (@JarrydAshby) August 2, 2012

The point is, there is such a thing as the free market, and liberals are free to run their restaurants their way, no matter how bad the concept is:

#LiberalFastFood They are free to start a restaurant chain called “Chick-Feel-Gay” or “Dude-Feel-Gay” and encourage others to support them.

Rep. Justin Amash recalls saying Obamacare delay would be a ‘favor’

9/15/13?

That date is a subtle reminder from Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) of his appearance on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” exactly two months ago. What happened then that’s so relevant today?

As the Raw Story reported, that was the day Amash managed to crack up the rest of the panel by suggesting that delaying the implementation of Obamacare by a year (suggested by the GOP in negotiations over the debt ceiling) would be doing the president a huge favor.

Make sure to scroll ahead to 0:53, when Amash asserts that Obamacare is not ready to be implemented.

‘BOOM’! Rob Lowe, Albert Brooks propose penance for Miley Cyrus twerking

If only! Albert Brooks tweeted that suggestion of a fitting punishment for Alan Thicke and Billy Ray Cyrus, the fathers of the twerking Miley Cyrus and Robin “old enough to be her dad” Thicke. While viewers are still horrified by the performance during Sunday’s VMAs, Twitter continues to help soothe the nightmares with some giggles.

Ha! Not payment enough. Oh, not payment enough.

Brooks’ tweet has been retweeted well over 1,000 times and counting, including once by actor Rob Lowe.

Bingo. Model/actress Jaime King and Fox News’ Martha MacCallum helped to drive that point home on Monday as well.
